A Cake Stand Trip: Retro VegasJul 11, 2013
It's hot here in Las Vegas right now. Like, well over 100 degrees hot. The only thing to do in this weather is to stay indoors as much as possible. And, as soon as I stepped inside the vintage home decor store, Retro Vegas, I knew I had to share it with you. This store is a mecca for everything Las Vegas. As described by the owners, "This is the home of history, style and all that’s fabulous about Las Vegas. Retro Vegas is full of art and antiques. There are treasures and object d’art to fit every budget and space. We have many pieces that are full of historical significance from some of the most fabulous homes in town. From modern art to antiquities, our inventory changes all the time. For glitz, glamour and fun, check out Retro Vegas." One of the highlights of the store is this vintage Pink Kitchen that is installed in the store. And, yes, it is available for purchase. It's like walking back in time... I I couldn't resist popping the Sea of Love Cake Stand on the counter top. I think it's a perfect fit! I I can just imagine this furniture on the set of AMC's "Mad Men." Why, yes, Mr. Draper, I would like to discuss an ad campaign for Sarah's Stands with you. Looking for some tiki decor to dress up your backyard? I think these life-size statues will make a statement. And, look, a cake stand is a perfect display for tiki candle holders. Call it kismet but the teal cake stand is a spot on match for this vintage lawn furniture. I especially love the suit of armor standing guard in the background. There is nothing more iconic than a Vegas showgirl so I was delighted to see this vintage costume on display. She looks pretty good showing off the wedding cake stand, don't you think? And, our tour would not be complete without revealing this replica of Michelangelo's Statue of David. The cake stand was artfully placed to keep the image G-rated. So, next time you're in Las Vegas, make sure to put Retro Vegas on your must-see list. It really is worth the visit. And, maybe, you might find a piece of Las Vegas to take home with you.
