What inspired this delightful cake? Miso Bakes: It is safe to say that this cake was inspired by Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden. I oddly have a good memory when it comes to the most random things in life, and as soon as I saw the color swatch of this cake stand, I almost instantaneously remembered a copy of the book my sister had growing up. From my recollection, the book was minty green and had a large keyhole carved out of its hard bound cover. To make sure my memory was accurate (the last time I saw and read the book was close to two decades ago), I searched for the book and found it. As you may have guessed, fresh arrangement of buttercream flowers was inspired by the story. Here's an ode to Burnett, to secret gardens, to childhood memories, and to beautifully colored cake stands. About Miso Bakes: Though cakes were my passion and forte, after graduating with highest honors from the Patisserie and Baking Arts Diploma Program at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Los Angeles, I jumped into the restaurant industry. Having been a planner and scheduler ever since I was a little girl, I felt the need to learn how to think on my feet, work under immense pressure, multi-task, develop a better eye for detail, and overcome unforeseen obstacles while keeping my sanity together. Long story short, I survived many holiday dinner services that came with chaos I never knew could exist behind closed kitchen doors. I learned how to be a better team leader and to communicate more effectively and efficiently. Parting ways was bittersweet, but I was ready to pursue cakes full time. Today, I primarily design wedding cakes. With the precision and discipline I have acquired from the fine-dining environment, I carefully craft cakes and buttercreams from scratch using the finest ingredients available. Additionally, I strive to provide my clients with a comfortable and memorable experience in designing a cake that is uniquely theirs.
