They say April showers bring May flowers, well I certainly hope so! This winter I got the gardening fever and spent my weekends prepping a garden that is spouse to bloom this spring. Fingers crossed on that. But the one thing that I know will bloom this May is the full-on craziness of wedding season, so I hope everyone is prepped and ready. So let's waste no more time and get to the April Sweets:
Projection Mapping Cake Designs
It truly is the digital era when even cake designs are going digital. Projection mapping cake design is the process of projecting digital images that display along the contours of a cake. It creates some pretty impressive looks like this one or this one. But if you are a cake baker I wouldn't panic yet, as the technology was first debuted in 2012 by Disney resorts and yet plenty of Brides still want a classic piece of sugar art for their wedding.
A Royal Cake Auction
I have been posting a lot about the upcoming royal wedding, but this was too crazy not to mention. It has been announced that this June there will be an auction selling pieces of cake from several of England's previous royal weddings. The oldest piece is from the 1973 nuptials of Princess Anne and Capt. Mark Phillips. The most expensive piece is predicted to be from the Charles and Diana wedding cake. And it is all happening a few miles from my home at the Planet Hollywood here in Las Vegas. For more information check out this write up by NPR. Anyone think they will need a cake stand to show off the pieces? Only one way to find out!
A Cake That Caught My Eye
You have to love it when your cake has a matching dress! This cake was crafted by One Belle Bakery. She made it for her Cake Couture styled shoot that was featured in Focus on the Coasts Weddings. I particularly love how this cake blends seamlessly into my Picture Perfect Cake Stand. To see more great cakes like this one, make sure to follow us on Instagram.
Little Miss Perfect Cake Stands
In case you missed it I debuted my newest cake stand collection, the Little Miss Perfect. I designed the Little Miss Perfect Cake Stand to be a sleek, compact cake display. The Little Miss Perfect is a complementary match to my Picture Perfect cake stands or it can be used as a stand-alone cake stand. To show off the new stand, I was lucky enough to have a host of talented bakers create sugar art magic and display it on my Little Miss Perfect cake stand. Check out these amazing cakes from Maggie Austin, Kara's Couture Cakes, Intricate Icings Cake Design, Earth & Sugar, Nine Cakes, and Jasmine Rae Cakes.
Question of the Month
Along with my new cake stand collection, I also debuted a new color, Moonlite Blue. It is a beautiful rich navy color that is unlike anything I have offered before. So in the spirit of the new color, I have a question for you:
